Small Moroccan city located in the Sahara Desert, near the Algerian border, Merzouga attracts more and more tourists each year in winter. Although the temperatures are quite low during this period, a considerable number of tourists from all over the world go there for the holiday season.
Behind ocher-colored houses and inns, one sees dunes far and beyond, called “Erg”, including the famous Erg Chebbi, one of the two large dunes of the Sahara.
To get there, tourists have three choices: on foot, on a dromedary, or in a SUV. Most opt for the one on a dromedary: advantage, we tire less, we live a more pleasant experience.
Merzouga is also a multiple choice destination, to spend the night there, tourists have two choices: that between a traditional bivouac, and a luxurious bivouac. Between these two choices, there are several differences, including comfort. Luxurious bivouacs generally consist of more or less refined tents, or more or less distant in the dunes.
If many tourists choose the winter period to go to the Moroccan desert, it is because this season also has its advantages. Indeed, the sun does not emerge before 8 am, which makes waking up more pleasant than in the hot season.
In addition, the night freshness is quickly forgotten after a few minutes of walking on the dunes. During the day, the temperature rises gradually to twenty-five degrees, which guarantees freshness during walking hours.
