Une mégalopole tournée vers l’avenir

The history of Casablanca draws its foundations from its multiple identities which has a taste for mixed of cultures, colors and rhythms. Over the centuries, the city has undergone many influences: Roman, Phoenician, Arab and Berber, then European or even American. An attraction due to its geographic proximity, being located at the gates of Europe and America, its position on the Atlantic coast in north-west Africa allows it access to various resources.

Enjoying a central location on the Atlantic coast, the city was built on the site of the ancient medieval city of Anfa, which later became the small port of Dar-Al-Baida. The old Anfa was, in turn, built, then destroyed, then under siege, then rebuilt. The city experienced decadence and fell into oblivion for centuries before being reborn as Casablanca, in the early 19th century. Still popular, thanks to its wealth, its port and its commercial activity, Casablanca has become the first city in Morocco and one of the most important agglomerations in Africa, while consolidating its positioning as a regional and continental hub.

Today’s Casablanca, modern, open, noisy and colorful, began to expand in the 20th century. The result: an attractive city where multicultural populations have always mingled, living in houses with heterogeneous, forefront architectural styles and where reflection on architectural town planning has always been present.

The economic capital of the kingdom, Casablanca represents the face of a megalopolis turned towards the future. Today, the city is considered to be the modern showcase of an improving Morocco.

Casablanca has one of the largest and most beautiful mosques on the planet, the Hassan II Mosque, a true symbol of the city, it is the largest minaret (210 m) in Africa, and the fifth largest mosque in the world, it is one of the few open to non-Muslims in the entire Arab world.

“Casa” is also a host of pianos-bars, restaurants, trendy nightclubs where you can party in a delirious atmosphere! This city which combines Moroccan architectural tradition and standards of town planning and modern comfort, It immediately seduces all visitors to Casablanca with places such as the Morocco Mall, the largest shopping center in Africa and one of the largest internationally, the third musical fountain in the world, and Twin Center Casablanca: two 28-storey twin towers including a luxury hotel located on one of the towers recently.

A real economic and financial engine of the national economy, it now generates 50% of the national GDP. Its port drains three quarters of national trade, and its international airport is the first in the country. The metropolis is also experiencing a change in its economy and today, it is deploying its assets in the tertiary and services sector, particularly in tourism.
